Both my husband and I had nephrectomies. We both had an appointment for an ultrasound looking while looking for different health problems. My husband had no symptoms, but I had right flank pain for a year. In 2013 the urologist removed his kidney. When it was my turn to go under the knife in 2014, I had my kidney removed as well. Today, I'm cancer-free. My husband and I always tell people our story in an effort to bring kidney cancer awareness.
